collection of photographs by artist John Sfondilias.
Meet photographer John Sfondilias at a reception for
the artist at our store in Savoy,

John Sfondilias grew up in Oak Park, IL and
moved to Champaign-Urbana in 1970. His "real job" is in
instructional technology. He has a Ph.D. in Instructional Design
and Computer Based Education from the University of Illinois. His
past life includes jobs as varied as teaching sixth grade English
in Mahomet and systems engineering at IBM...which is the
connection to his present photography. Even though John acquired
his first SLR camera more than 20 years ago, it wasn't until new
technology gave rise to the digital camera that John's photography
really took off. In the last 15 months, or so, John estimates that
he has taken over 3000 photographs with his digital
cameras.
This exhibit highlights some of his digital
photography of the "land and sea." The photographs were taken with
both two and five megapixel digital cameras and were printed with
an Epson inkjet printer using Heavyweight Matte paper with
DuraBright inks.
"In taking photographs, I try to create a
window of interpretation that the viewer can appreciate. When this
actually works, the viewer has a connection to the original
subject matter, one that combines both the photographer's
interpretation as well as the viewer's." --John
